About Us
“It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” -Mother Teresa
The Beth Brown Memorial Foundation (BBMF) is a non-profit tax exempt 501(C)3 corporation established in 1964 under the laws of the State of Ohio and the Federal Internal Revenue Code to receive and distribute funds in memory of the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence J. Brown, Jr. Beth lost her three year battle with leukemia on March 25, 1964, at the age of seven.
BBMF started with funds which had been set aside originally for Beth's education by the Brown family. Today the money awarded comes from YOUR DONATIONS and the wise stewardship of these donations. ALL DONATIONS go directly to student scholarships!
Each year, the BBMF Board meets to disperse funds to High School graduates from Champaign County, Ohio who intend to further their education in the “healing arts.” Two other awards are given to a graduating student from Ohio’s Blanchester High School and from Lebanon High School. These students are recognized for their “public service” and chosen by each school.
Over the years, the definition of “healing arts” has been debated by the board. In the early years, “healing arts” were narrowly defined as nursing and pre-med programs. Today, students entering into biomedical engineering, physical therapy, radiologic science and other areas of study have been supported by the scholarships.
